Shiny Red Apple

This week for a snack at work, I had brought two apples.  As I sat down to eat one, I picked the one that looked a little more pleasing. It was a deep red with hardly any blemishes and looked really good.  I was excited to bite into this crisp apple (I know I’m weird)

As I took the first bite the excitement turned quickly to disgust. The inside of the apple was dark, soft and starting to rot. It was not a good apple; I tried to eat around the bad spots but ended up just throwing it away.  I was bummed for a moment, then I said to myself “I guess you can look great and still be disgusting on the inside…”

1 Peter 3:34 Urges us to keep our beauty internal as this is what God sees as precious.
“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.”

The World seems to place so much emphasis on the External appearance, How beautiful our significant others are, our clothes, our house etc.
But if the internal workings aren’t kept in great condition it means nothing. You can have the best body in the world but if you heart isn’t healthy you won’t last long.

Let’s keep the importance of our internal beauty on our minds; its what’s inside that counts.  Think internal to live eternal.
